Conister Backs Good News in Laxey
Laxey Views, the free community newsletter run by volunteers, has received a helping hand in the form of ground-level support from Conister Bank.
Now in its seventh issue, Laxey Views was created by village residents Jackie Barker, Joanne Clague and Kerry Sharpe. Its lively blend of news, views and images is anchored firmly in village life, providing a great read for people of all ages who value a traditional, friendly approach to keeping in touch with what's happening in their area. Five-hundred issues of Laxey Views are published each month and distributed through village outlets, as well as being available online.
Conister Bank, which has a long track record of supporting community-orientated projects in the Isle of Man, discovered Laxey Views by chance; picked up on the project and decided to give the paper their backing. Their commitment to supporting printing costs for the next year has been a major boost for the paper's team, allowing them to focus on planning forthcoming issues with confidence.
Managing Director of Conister Bank, Juan Kelly, says, "We believe in supporting grass-roots community projects and Laxey Views feels real and that it brings people together. I really admire what Jackie, Joanne and Kerry have started here."
Jackie Barker, co-founder, comments, "We are thrilled, at Laxey Views, that the work we have been doing has been recognised by Conister Bank. Their belief in us and our aims, and in the community benefit to Laxey, is much appreciated. Our future issues are guaranteed until 2016 and we look forward to developing the newsletter further as time goes on."
