The Honey Project Part 2: Building a Buzzing Future with The Children’s Centre
Last year, we rolled up our sleeves and laid the foundations for something truly special: an apiary at The Children’s Centre, designed to support education, wellbeing, and sustainability on the Isle of Man.
This year, we went back even stronger, more determined, and ready to get our hands dirty once more for a great cause as we embarked on The Honey Project Part 2!
Conister Bank, together with teams from across Manx Financial Group at Edgewater and MFX, traded in keyboards for hammers to support the next phase of this unique community project.
Transforming The Wild Space
Under clear blue skies and with plenty of suncream, we spent a week on-site at The Children’s Centre, Wallberry Farm, helping to turn a quiet corner of the island, The Children’s Centre’s ‘Wild Space’, into a safe and accessible environment for all. This new and improved area will soon be opened to the Manx public, helping The Children’s Centre generate vital income to support its ongoing work.
Across the week, our teams worked hard to construct a strong walkway, a bench, and a purpose-built platform to support a new shed - now home to the essential tools and equipment used to care for the hives we installed last year. The shed provides secure storage for everything from beekeeper suits to hive tools, making the apiary easier to manage and sustain well into the future.
Building a Community
These hives are not only home to thousands of pollinators, they’re also part of a wider vision creating an environment that supports therapy sessions, hands-on learning, and now, a new opportunity for The Children’s Centre to generate income through honey production and educational visits.
Thank you to the amazing team at The Children’s Centre for making this project possible. The Honey Project Part 2 is a true reflection of what can be achieved when passionate people come together with a shared goal of helping the island.
